Influence of Bismuth with various content on the performance of Lead acid battery

There has been a controversial view on the effects of Bismuth in Lead acid battery on the battery performances. With more and more research available, knowledge on the effects of Bismuth begins to change from a deleterious impurity which people tried their best to remove to a beneficial dopant. Recent research progress on the effects of Bismuth with various contents on the performance of Lead acid battery are reviewed in the paper. Many results have shown significant advantages of Bismuth on the battery performance. Recently, some researchers suggest that a minimum Bismuth content must be set in the specification for Lead, rather than a maximum content. But the optimum level of Bismuth content has not   to been determined.
